Laura G. Farres, Ph.D., Ch. P.C.Laura has a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. in Physical and Health Education from Queen's University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.

Her formal training is in the area of psychopedagogy and the psychology of performance. She is a Mental Performance Consultant with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) and a chartered professional coach (ChPC) with Coaches of Canada.

She applies her knowledge and skills of mental training to sport and exercise, health, and business contexts through her private consulting practice, Mind in Motion Consulting Inc. She works with a number of national, provincial and regional organizations in this capacity.

She has supported Team BC sports as a mental performance consultant through 2 Western Canada Games and 4 Canada Games cycles. She has also provided mental performance consulting to Special Olympics Team BC athletes and coaches at 5 National Games and to Team Canada Special Olympic athletes at 2 World Games.

She is an instructor at Douglas College in New Westminster, British Columbia in the Department of Sport Science and is also an adjunct professor in the Theatre Department at the University of British Columbia teaching a course on Performance Psychology.

Renée Hock, M.Ed., RCC

Laura G. Farres, Ph.D., Ch. P.C.Renée has a Master of Education from the University of British Columbia, a Professional Teaching Degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University.

Her formal areas of training include counselling psychology, teaching, business, and high performance sport. She is a trained coaching facilitator for the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) and an NCCP Level 3 Certified Coach in judo.

She is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) through the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). In this capacity she has worked in both interdisciplinary and community counselling settings and has accumulated over 500 hours of clinical experience. She currently offers clinical counselling and performance consulting services through Mind in Motion Consulting.

Her practical business experience encompasses a diverse range of roles, responsibilities, industries, and business models. More specifically, she has worked as the Executive Director of Judo BC, as a Department Head and Teacher for the Vancouver School Board, as the Western Sales Coordinator for The Mark Anthony Group, and in Public Relations for Seiko Sangyo Company Ltd. in Tokyo, Japan.

As an athlete in judo, Renée represented Canada at both the World Championships and Pan American Games. As a high performance coach, she has worked with athletes of all ages and skill levels including, grass roots, club level, Provincial, National and Paralympic athletes. In 2000, she was formally recognized for her achievements in this area with the Petro Canada Coaching Excellence Award.
